Summer Course 2018 – Tea: From Plantation to Table

In the mid year of 2017/2018 academic year, Muhammadiyah University of Sukabumi and Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta had received PKKUI grant from KEMENRISTEK DIKTI. The grant is intended to be used for development of international offices in universities. Both international offices of Muhammadiyah Unviersity of Sukabumi (UMMI) and Universitas Pembangunan Nasional Veteran Yogyakarta (UPNVY) collaborated holding a summer course program as an effort of development of each party.

The Summer Course – Tea: From Plantation to Table was held to realize the plan. The topic was about environment and culture, tea and indonesian culture to be exact. It was held for 10 days in 3 different cities, which are Yogyakarta, Wonosobo and Sukabumi. The participants come from Indonesia, Hungary and Malaysia.

Participants learned about tea history, development, industru and culture in Indonesia. They were taught about Bahasa Indonesia and tea processing from plantation to serving. They also learned about art such as traditional dances.
